In ArcMap, symbols display incorrectly in the Symbol Selector

Description

After switching the symbol Category, the symbols displayed are incorrect and do not match the symbol names. This is especially true when displaying the Civic style symbols and symbolizing on a point.

Cause

This is a known issue when the symbol Category is changed before all of the symbols in the selected styles are displayed.

Workaround

Wait for the Symbol Selector dialog box to finish loading all the symbols, which may take several seconds. The dialog box is still refreshing when the vertical scrollbar continues to move and shorten. When it stops resizing, the dialog box is refreshed and a new symbol Category may be selected.
