PROBLEM
In ArcGIS Pro it is possible to configure a layer for Locate with multiple fields configured. These fields may not be visible when searching, depending on how the search is conducted.
The results returned depend on whether the Locate tab or the Layer Search tab is used.
Note: To configure a layer for locate, go into the Provider Settings in the Locate pane, as shown in the following figure.
As an example, when searching for Dallas, the results include all fields that were configured, the search happens on all configured fields. The results returned are features that contain the search term in any of the configured fields:
The following is the result of the same search but on the Layer Search tab using the Match any part search mode. The difference is that only the fields that contain the search term in any format (not case sensitive) are returned in the results:
In the next example, the result for the same search on the Layer Search tab using the Enhanced Search mode, where only the fields that contain the search term are returned in the results, but the search term is surrounded by braces:
Below is the result of the same search, but on the Layer Search tab using the Exact search mode. The difference is that only the fields that contain the exact search term (case sensitive) are returned in the results. DFW feature is not there because the exact name is “Dallas/Fort Worth:"
Note: The information in the Description is taken from what the display field in the layer properties is set to. In this case, it is the airport name. If it was set to IATA, it would show the 3-letter code, such as 'DWF' in the description:
