Summary
Instructions provided describe how to update the ArcGIS License Manager service with new licenses.
Procedure
The existing license service does not have the same features as included in the new license file. Use these instructions to add new licenses (evaluation, time limited, or permanent).
- Navigate to Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager 9.x > Update License.
- Browse to the license file (*.TXT or *.EFL9) and follow the Update License wizard.
- To verify that the license service has acquired the new licenses, restart the license service with License Manager Tools or reboot the computer.
Note:
Information on this procedure is also available in the License Manager Reference Guide, available from Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager 9.x > License Manager Reference Guide. Expand Getting Started on Windows > Updating your existing license files.
Use these instructions to add additional copies to existing licensed products.
- Verify that the new license file (*.TXT or *.EFL9) contains all license copies, existing and those to be added.
For example, if there is one existing license of ArcView concurrent use and one new license of ArcView concurrent use being added, there is a total of two. In this scenario, the license file should contain two ArcView concurrent use licenses.
If the license file does not contain both existing and new copies, contact Esri Customer Services for a new combined license file. - It is recommended that all users who have licenses currently checked save their work in case of a disruption in the license service.
- Start Windows Explorer and navigate to where ArcGIS License Manager is installed. By default, this location is C:\Program Files\ESRI\License\arcgis9x.
- Select all *9.lic files that need to be replaced and delete them.
- Navigate to Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager 9.x > Update License.
- Browse to the license file (*.TXT or *.EFL9) and follow the Update License wizard.
- Start the license service with License Manager Tools, or reboot the computer.
