HOW TO

Share bookmarks from ArcGIS Pro to Portal for ArcGIS

Last Published: October 28, 2021

Summary

A bookmark is a navigation shortcut, to a position on a map or perspective in a scene, to return to later or share with others. Bookmarks help users save time while analyzing or viewing a map without having to manually search the location in the address bar. In some instances, bookmarks are not retained when publishing data to Portal for ArcGIS using the Share as Web Layer option in ArcGIS Pro.

Procedure

In ArcGIS Pro, instead of publishing the data using the Share As Web Layer option, select the Share As Web Map option to retain the bookmarks from ArcGIS Pro in Portal for ArcGIS. This ensures the same extent and location are applied in both platforms without having to create the same bookmarks twice. For steps and more information, refer to ArcGIS Pro: Share a web map.
