HOW TO

Set up a CNAME in GoDaddy for a custom ArcGIS Hub domain

Last Published: October 31, 2022

Summary

The ArcGIS Hub document Use a custom domain notes that ArcGIS Hub only supports CNAME domain name service entries for custom domains and that the CNAME entry should be configured with "yourhubsite" as the "canonical name" and "hub.arcgis.com" as the "hostname".

If you haven't set up a CNAME before, this workflow can be confusing since domain name providers may use different terms for CNAME entries (For example, "value" instead of "hostname") and have preconfigured CNAME entries on newly purchased domains that don't follow the format required by ArcGIS Hub.

Procedure

In GoDaddy, remove the existing CNAME entries for the newly purchased domain and add two new CNAME entries:

  • one where the "Name" is "yourhubsite" and the "Value" is "hub.arcgis.com"
  • one where the "Name" is "www" and the "Value" is "hub.arcgis.com".
Note:
"yourhubsite" is your domain name without the top-level/sub-domains (that us, no "www" or ".com").
