Procedure

Below are the steps to schedule a geoprocessing script in Windows Task Scheduler for Vista.

  1. Open Task Scheduler:

    Start > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler
  2. Click 'Create Task...' in the Actions Window.

  3. In the General tab of the Create Task dialog box, enter a Name for the Task and a Description (Optional). Also select whether or not the task can be run when a user is logged on.

  4. In the Triggers tab, enter any triggers to run the task. This is where the timing of the task is set and how often the task is done. To add a Trigger, click the New button at the bottom of the dialog box.

  5. In the Actions tab, select what the task is to do. This is where the geoprocessing script to be scheduled would go. To add a new action click the New button at the bottom.

    Note:
    Multiple Actions can be selected for a single task.

  6. There are two additional tabs that contain other settings for the task. The tabs are Conditions

    . After setting all the options for the task, click the OK button to close the Create Task dialog box.
  7. To view the new task click the Task Scheduler Library in the Catalog Tree on the left side of the Task Scheduler window.

    The tasks will be listed in the Task Scheduler window with information on Status, Triggers, Run Times, etc.
