Replace expired ArcGIS Server and Enterprise geodatabase licenses

Summary

The ArcGIS Server term license is subject to expiration. These licenses must be updated manually on the machine hosting ArcGIS Server and the related enterprise geodatabase. When an ArcGIS Server term license expires, the license for the related enterprise geodatabase must be replaced and updated along with the renewal of the server's license.

Procedure

Follow the workflow below to update the expired ArcGIS Server license and the related enterprise geodatabase license.

1. Log in to My Esri to obtain the new license file for the new term date following the installation version. Refer to ArcGIS Enterprise: Obtaining an authorization file for more information.
2. Remove the expired ArcGIS Server license file.
   1. On the machine, navigate to the following location to access the current keycodes file:

C:\Program Files\ESRI\License10.x\sysgen

2. A keycode file is a text-based file with entries for the expired licenses. Save a copy of the keycodes file on the machine as a backup, and delete the expired keycodes file.

3. Authorize the new ArcGIS Server term license using the Software Authorization Wizard.
   1. On the machine, open the Windows Start menu on the bottom left of the taskbar.
   2. Navigate to Program Files > ArcGIS > Software Authorization.
   3. Follow the prompts to authorize the ArcGIS Server license with the new license file obtained from Step 1.

4. Update the enterprise geodatabase license. Refer to Step 10 of ArcGIS Enterprise: Update license keys for database servers and their geodatabases and ArcGIS Pro: Update Enterprise Geodatabase License (Data Management) for more information.
5. ArcGIS Data Store:
   Navigate to ArcGIS Data Store install location (by default C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\DataStore\tools) and run updatelicense.bat.  There is no input required, see the ArcGIS Data Store command utility reference.
