Summary
In ArcGIS Pro, when a URL or file path is typed or pasted into a text element, it is automatically recognized and displayed as a hyperlink. However, the links do not need to be active if the URL or path must be displayed as plain text for reference.
The image below shows an example of a text element containing both text and a hyperlink in the ArcGIS Pro layout.
This article provides workflows to remove hyperlinks in text elements in ArcGIS Pro layouts.
Procedure
Clear the existing address in the Hyperlink dialog box
- In ArcGIS Pro, open the layout view.
- Right-click the hyperlink in the text element and select Hyperlink.
- In the Hyperlink dialog box, click Clear existing address to remove the URL in the Address box.
- Click OK.
Use the <NOLINK> text formatting tag
- In ArcGIS Pro, open the layout view.
- Double-click the text element to open the Element pane and view its properties.
- In the Text pane, under Options, expand Text.
- Modify the preferred text element by adding a <NOLINK> tag to display the URL without converting it into a hyperlink. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Add hyperlinks for more information.
Copy and paste the text from a text editor
- On the Windows taskbar, click the Search icon.
- In the search box, search for and select a preferred text editor. In this example, Notepad is selected.
- Copy and paste the preferred text in Notepad.
- Copy and paste the text from Notepad into the text element in the ArcGIS Pro layout.
