HOW TO

Register a PostgreSQL database with ArcGIS Insights in ArcGIS Enterprise

Last Published: May 6, 2020

Summary

Registering a database connection with Insights for ArcGIS in ArcGIS Enterprise requires uploading the necessary JDBC drivers to the ArcGIS Server admin endpoint. However, this is not necessary for PostgreSQL databases; the necessary JDBC drivers are present in the ArcGIS Data Store installation folder, as both ArcGIS Data Store and Portal for ArcGIS are built off of PostgreSQL databases.

Procedure

Follow the steps below to register a PostgreSQL database connection with ArcGIS Insights in ArcGIS Enterprise.

  1. Log in to the ArcGIS Server admin endpoint.
  2. Navigate to data > relationalDatastoreTypes > register.
  3. Select the PostgreSQL database from the Relational Datastore Type drop-down menu.
Note:
When registering a PostgreSQL database, the Uploaded item ID drop-down menu is unavailable/inactive.
  1. Click Register Item to register the PostgreSQL database with ArcGIS Server.
