Publish a shared markup file to ArcGIS Online

Summary

In ArcGIS Online, markup files shared by other users cannot be directly published or added to a web map. To publish a shared markup file to ArcGIS Online, the file must be opened and published through the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app.

This article provides the workflow to publish a markup file shared by other users to ArcGIS Online.

Procedure

  1. Enable location sharing for the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app on the device.
Note:
Disabling location sharing in ArcGIS Field Maps results in limited visibility, reduced coordination, and compromised data accuracy.
  1. On the device, navigate to the shared markup file and open the file with the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app.

  1. Rename the markup file on the Import markup dialog box. In this example, the markup file is renamed 'Markup'.
  2. Tap IMPORT.

  1. Tap Markup Layers The Markup toolbar in ArcGIS Field Maps and select the markup file from the list.
  2. Tap Overflow The Overflow tab in ArcGIS Field Maps and select Share to ArcGIS Online.

  1. In ArcGIS Online, open a web map in Map Viewer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: View maps (Map Viewer) for instructions.
  2. Add the published markup file to the web map in Map Viewer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Browse layers for instructions.

The published map in Map Viewer shows the markup from the shared markup file has been added.
