Perform a clean uninstall of ArcGIS Insights desktop

Summary

In some instances, ArcGIS Insights desktop crashes and does not run properly. This may be due to the detached PostgreSQL processes running in the background, as shown in the Windows Task Manager image below.

It is possible to resolve this issue by performing a clean uninstall of Insights desktop to completely clear the app data on the machine, and reinstalling the latest version of the software.

Procedure

Follow the steps below to perform a clean uninstall of Insights desktop.

  1. On the machine, navigate to the following folders in File Explorer, and delete them.
C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Insights
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\ArcGIS Insights
Note:
The AppData folder is hidden. To display hidden folders, refer to Microsoft Windows Support: Show hidden files.
  1. Restart the machine to end all the detached PostgreSQL processes running in the background.
  2. Install the latest version of Insights desktop on the machine.
