Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Marker symbols can be offset from the endpoints of a line by modifying its symbol properties.

Procedure

The following steps describe how to offset marker symbols from the endpoints of a line for Cartographic, Hash, and Marker Line Symbols.

  1. Left-click on the line symbol in the Table of Contents.
  2. In the Symbol Selector dialog box, click Properties.
  3. Under the Line Properties tab, click the button for decorations on both ends of the line.
  4. Click Properties underneath the selected line decoration.
  5. Check Rotate symbol to follow the line angle.
  6. Click the Symbol button.
  7. In the Symbol Selector dialog box, click Properties.
  8. In the Symbol Property Editor dialog box, change the X offset for the marker symbol.

    Note:
Negative offset moves markers in toward one another, whereas a positive offset moves them away from the ends of the line.
