Modify the maximum file size for an image attachment in ArcGIS Survey123

Summary

In ArcGIS Survey123, the size limitation for image attachments can be modified to allow for uploading smaller or larger file sizes. While limiting the image attachment size helps control bandwidth usage, data storage, and survey compatibility, it may be necessary to upload larger image files in the survey form. This article provides workflows for setting the maximum size limit for image attachments in ArcGIS Survey123 and ArcGIS Survey123 Connect.

Procedure

Note:
Although a custom size can be specified, note that the maximum size cannot exceed 100 MB for ArcGIS Online, and 20 MB for ArcGIS Enterprise.

Modify the maximum file size in the ArcGIS Survey123 web designer

  1. Log in to the ArcGIS Survey123 website.
  2. Browse to the desired survey and click Design.

  1. On the survey form, select the media question and click the Edit tab.
  2. On the Edit tab, under the File size section, click the drop-down button for Maximum.

  1. Select the desired maximum file size from the list. Alternatively, click Custom and specify the size.

  1. Click Save > Publish.

Modify the size limit of the image attachment in ArcGIS Survey123 Connect

  1. Log in to ArcGIS Survey123 Connect.
  2. Click the survey form to edit.
Note:
If the form is not listed on the main page, download the form from the ArcGIS Survey123 application and reopen ArcGIS Survey123 Connect.

  1. Click the Options tab.
  2. Navigate to the Images section, click the Image size on the longest edge drop-down button and select the desired size.
Note:
Alternatively, click XLSForm,  type max-size=<size> in the bind::esri:parameters column for the image question in the XLSForm sheet to specify the preferred maximum image size.

  1. Click Update > Publish.
