Summary

In a recent update to ArcGIS Field Maps, users can now configure attachment form elements as required, ensuring that field workers provide the necessary attachment information when collecting data in the field. This helps prevent crucial attachment data, such as photos or videos, from being omitted. However, configuring attachment form elements as required differs from the configuration of other form elements, such as basic and choice form elements. This article provides the workflow for configuring attachment form elements as required.

Procedure

  1. Open the map in ArcGIS Field Maps Designer.
  2. In the Form Builder panel, under Form Elements, scroll down to Attachment.
  3. Drag and drop a desired attachment form element into the form.
  4. Select the added form element to open the Properties panel.
  5. In the Properties panel, under Formatting, scroll down to Min. file count.
  6. Set the number of attachments required for the form element to at least 1. The configuration is reflected with a Required symbolRequired symbol on the form element.
The Properties panel in ArcGIS Field Maps Designer
  1. Configure other elements, if necessary. Save the changes.
  2. Reload the map in the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app.
