HOW TO

Locate Geospatial video files when flying Freefly Astro drones

Last Published: August 6, 2025

Summary

This article explains where to find the video and log files when flying missions with Freefly Astro drones.

Procedure

The process to retrieve the captured videos from the Astro, Astro Prime and Astro Max is different than DJI drones. The video is not stored in the external storage connected to the aircraft, instead, they are stored in the camera's SD card.

  1. Make sure the Astro is powered off.
  2. Look for the camera's SD card reader and retrieve the SD Card.
  3. Connect the SD card to a computer.
  4. Open the file explorer on your computer and access the SD Card.
  5. Navigate to: private > M4ROOT > CLIP
  6. Retrieve the video(s).
Note:
There is no indication or correlation in the naming convention between the video files and the video logs coming from the flight app. Keep this in mind when capturing video data so you can match them using the FMV workflow.
