HOW TO

Limit zoom levels in an ArcGIS Pro map

Last Published: May 9, 2025

Summary

In ArcGIS Pro it may sometimes be necessary to limit the extent in which to zoom in or out of a map. The steps provided describe how to do this.

It is also possible to use the same interface to add more scale levels or delete them to limit zooming further, or even set the map to use only a single scale.

Procedure

  1. Open the menu for scale levels in the bottom left of the map window and click Customize.

Customize button shown on the scale list

  1. In the Scale Properties window, check the box for Only display these scales when zooming to restrict the map view to only the scales listed in the predefined scales list.
