After using a drawing tool to create text or a graphic, the active tool reverts to the graphic selection tool. You can use ArcMap's Advanced Settings Utility to keep the drawing tool active; for example, while creating multiple instances of text.
- Close all ArcGIS applications and start the Advanced Settings Utility.
A. Navigate to the Utilities folder under the ArcGIS installation directory; for example, C:\arcgis\arcexe81\Utilities.
B. Double-click AdvancedArcMapSettings.exe.
- Select the Symbols/Graphics tab.
- Check the 'Keep Drawing Tool Active after completing a shape' check box.
- Click Close.
When you use a drawing tool, it will remain active until you select a different tool.
