Install an Esri StreetMap Premium license file on ArcGIS servers without ArcGIS for Desktop

Last Published: January 13, 2022

Summary

This article describes the workflow to install an Esri StreetMap Premium .sdlic license file to a machine that has ArcGIS for Server installed, but not ArcGIS for Desktop.

If ArcGIS for Desktop is installed, to install the StreetMap Premium license file, simply click All Programs > ArcGIS > ArcGIS Administrator > Data Licenses > Add a license. If ArcGIS for Desktop is not installed, this workflow cannot be utilized, as ArcGIS Administrator is also not installed.

Procedure

This workflow involves utilizing the Windows Command Prompt, the .sdlic license file, and a .exe utility included with the ArcGIS Server installation.

  1. Open a Windows Command Prompt instance (cmd) on a machine with ArcGIS for Server installed.
  2. Change directory to the ArcGIS Server Program Files bin directory:
cd C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\framework\runtime\ArcGIS\bin
Note:
For ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9 and below, the bin directory is 'C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\bin'.
  1. The command line appears as follows:
C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\framework\runtime\ArcGIS\bin>
  1. Type the following:
DataLicInstall.exe C:\FolderName\<nameOfLicenseFile>.sdlic
  1. Press Enter to install the license. After the license file installs successfully, restart the ArcGIS Server Windows service for the changes to take effect.
