Summary
This document includes tips on how to improve the rasterization performance of ArcPress for ArcInfo workstation.
Procedure
- ArcPress intensively uses the CPU of the host machine, so load ArcPress on a system that has plenty of processing power.
- Ensure that other CPU intensive applications are not running so ArcPress can use as much of the available resources as possible.
- A PostScript file may process faster than a metafile (.gra or map composition), particularly if the data is a mix of vector and raster data sets. Convert the metafile to PostScript first and then run ArcPress.
- Using the ArcPress option with the POSTSCRIPT command will reduce processing time significantly if the resulting PostScript file is run through ArcPress.
