Summary
In ArcGIS Experience Builder, a combo chart in the Chart widget combines column and line series in a single chart, allowing multiple measures to be visualized stimultaneously. The combo chart can be used to depict confidence intervals using upper and lower bound markers, providing a similar interpretation to error bars without displaying connecting whisker lines that extend from the main measure to the upper and lower bounds.
The ArcGIS Experience Builder Chart widget workflow provided in this article uses a combo chart to display the main measure as a column and the lower and upper confidence bounds represented as points in a line series.
Procedure
Note:
This workaround requires three fields containing the main measure, lower confidence bound, and upper confidence bound values.
- Create a web experience and add a Map widget in ArcGIS Experience Builder. Refer to ArcGIS Experience Builder: Create your first web experience for instructions.
- In the Insert widget panel, on the New tab, under Data centric, drag and drop the Chart widget onto the canvas.
- In the configuration panel, on the Content tab, click Select data. In the Select data panel, select the feature layer from the map.
- Under Chart type, click Select chart. In the Chart type panel, select Combo chart.
- Under Data, for Category field, click the drop-down arrow and select the category field.
- For Statistics, click the drop-down arrow and select the preferred statistics method. In this example, it is Mean.
- For Number Fields, click the drop-down arrow and select the fields containing the main measure, lower confidence bound, and upper confidence bound values.
Note:
Ensure the fields are selected in the preferred order. The field selection order determines the display order of the series on the chart and cannot be reordered in the Series style panel. In this example, the fields are selected in the order of the main measure, lower confidence bound, and upper confidence bound.
- Expand Series and click the settings button
to open the Series style panel. In the Series style panel, configure the style settings for each series.
- For the first series, click Expand
and select Column from the Render as drop-down list. In this example, the first series is Main Measure.
- For the second and third series, click Expand
and select Line from the Render as drop-down lists. Under Line, specify 0 for px to display the bounds as points on the chart. In this example, the second series is Lower CI and the third series is Upper CI.
- Configure the widget as required. Optionally, change the display orientation and enable the chart legend under General for enhanced visualization.
- Save, preview, and publish the experience.
