Summary
In ArcGIS Experience Builder, most widget icons are only visible in the widget panel during editing mode. The Widget Controller widget allows widget icons to be displayed as buttons in a published experience. Although each widget has a default icon, the icon can be personalized by configuring the Widget Controller widget settings. A custom widget icon enhances the visual communication of information and makes the interface more intuitive.
In the example below, the Widget Controller widget consists of three different widgets with default icons.
This article provides the workflow to customize the Widget Controller widget's icon by uploading an image.
Procedure
- Log in to ArcGIS Online and open the desired experience in ArcGIS Experience Builder.
- Click Insert to open the Insert widget panel. Under Menu and toolbars, click and drag the Widget Controller widget into the canvas.
- Click the Add widget button and select from a widget gallery, or drag a widget from the Insert widget panel onto the controller. In this example, the Legend widget is selected.
- On the canvas, click the desired widget on the Widget Controller widget to open its panel. In this example, the Legend widget is clicked.
- In the widget's panel, click Select icon next to the widget's name to open the icon menu. In this example, the Legend widget panel is clicked.
- In the icon menu, under My icons, click Add custom icons
, and select the desired image.
- Click Save
