Create custom variables from an Excel file in ArcGIS Business Analyst

Summary

In the ArcGIS Business Analyst web app, a custom infographic may show variables as N/A. Follow these steps to create new custom variables from an Excel sheet.

Procedure

  1. Log into ArcGIS Business Analyst.
    1. Go to Maps > Add data > Import file.
    2. Browse to and select the Excel file.
    3. Leave the default settings and click Next.
    4. Click Save, then I'm Done.
  2. Set up custom data.
    1. Navigate to Maps > Add data > Custom data setup.
    2. Click Get started > Start setup.
    3. Choose the layer from the map, then click Next.
    4. Drag and drop the desired field into the Category pane on the right.
    5. Click Save, then I'm Done.
  3. Create a custom variable:
    1. Go to Reports > Build Infographics > My templates.
    2. Click Open > Edit.
    3. Click Edit/Add Variable > Create a custom variable.
    4. Select Advanced custom variable > My variables.
    5. Click Add, then Save.
