HOW TO
Custom attribute files are used to define custom fields in the attribute table of an output feature class. Important information from the input files or text from documents are extracted and stored in the custom fields of the attribute tables.
This article provides instructions to create and export custom attributes using the LocateXT extension in ArcMap. The following image shows a text file to determine keywords to look for in documents.
Note: This workflow requires the ArcGIS LocateXT license. Refer to ArcGIS LocateXT: ArcGIS LocateXT Pricing for more information.
Create a custom attribute file (.lxtca) using the LocateXT extension in ArcMap
Note: Alternatively, select the desired options from the Search and Matches drop-down lists. The GIS Name and GIS Length (chars) text boxes are automatically filled after typing the name in the Name text box.
Note: Adding keywords enables the search for specific keywords in each document to populate the Name field.
Note: Alternatively, select the desired option from the Capture Control drop-down list.
The created custom attribute is added to the Keyword list in the New Custom Attribute dialog box.
Note: To add more keywords, repeat Steps 5 and 6.
The added attributes and keywords are displayed in the Custom Attributes pane in the LocateXT Options dialog box.
