Copy annotation from the layout into a map annotation target

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to copy annotation in the layout to the default map annotation layer. The annotation being copied must overlay the dataframe.

Procedure

1. Navigate to layout view > select text > copy.
2. Right-click dataframe > select focus dataframe.
3. Paste text.
4. Zoom out in the dataframe until the map annotation is visible.
5. Shift the newly created map annotation to overlay the original layout text.
6. Select the layout text and delete.
