Configure the primary map viewer in ArcGIS Online

Summary

In ArcGIS Online, there are two map viewers which are Map Viewer and Map Viewer Classic. In the June 2022 update, Map Viewer becomes the primary map viewer where the map viewer is opened by default when viewing maps or supported layers from content in ArcGIS Online. However, some users have their preferences when viewing maps or contents in ArcGIS Online.

This article provides the workflow to configure the primary map viewer in ArcGIS Online for organization and personal use.

Procedure

Configure the primary map viewer for an organization

Note:
This workflow requires members with the administrator role or administrative privileges. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Privileges for more information.
  1. Log in to ArcGIS Online.
  2. Click Organization > Settings.
  3. On the left side of the Settings page, select the Map tab.
  4. In the Primary map viewer section, select the primary viewer for the organization.
The message pops up after successfully updating the primary map viewer for the organization in ArcGIS Online.

Configure the primary map viewer for personal use

  1. Log in to ArcGIS Online.
  2. On the top-right corner of the web page, click the user profile, and click My settings.

  1. On the left side of the My settings page, click the General tab.
  2. In the Primary map viewer section, select the primary map viewer for personal use.
The message pops up after successfully updating the primary map viewer for personal use in ArcGIS Online.
