HOW TO

Configure the category selectors to display unfiltered data in ArcGIS Dashboards

Last Published: January 10, 2023

Summary

In ArcGIS Dashboards, configuring filter actions on category selectors enables a targeted element to selectively display focused information. When two or more categories are selected, the element uses spatial filters to display the relevant information collectively. In certain circumstances, it is necessary for an element to display data unfiltered by the filter actions of the category selectors.

The example below shows the list element displaying the name list of private elementary schools in Portland based on the default categories selected.

This article provides the workaround to configure an element to display all the data unfiltered by adding the 'None' option in the category selectors in ArcGIS Dashboards.

Procedure

  1. In ArcGIS Dashboards, add an element and category selectors. Refer to ArcGIS Dashboards: Add elements and ArcGIS Dashboards: Add a selector for instructions. In this example, a list element and two category selectors are added to the dashboard.
  2. Configure the category selectors to enable a filter action on the target element. Refer to ArcGIS Dashboards: Configure actions for elements for instructions. In this example, the category selectors are configured to trigger filter action on the list element.
  3. On the category selector, hover over More options The More options button and click Configure The Configure icon.

The example below displays the category selectors with the 'None' option in both Inline and Dropdown presentation modes. The list element now displays the whole list of 'Elementary', 'High school', and 'Middle or junior high' education levels for both Private and Public school types.
