HOW TO

Configure map image layers for offline use in ArcGIS mobile apps

Last Published: May 12, 2021

Summary

All layers in a web map, including map image layers, must be configured for offline use so that the web map can be taken offline in mobile applications such as ArcGIS Workforce, ArcGIS Collector, and ArcGIS Field Maps. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Take web maps offline for more information.

If a map image layer does not enable clients to export cache tiles, the web map will be unavailable for offline use. The workflow below provides instructions to enable export cache tiles for map image layers.

Procedure

When publishing a map image layer as a service from ArcGIS Pro, check the 'Allow clients to export cache tiles' check box in the Share As Web Layer pane. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Configure a map image layer for more information.

Alternatively, when publishing a map service from ArcMap, check the 'Allow clients to export cache tiles' check box in the Advanced Cache Settings dialog box of the Service Editor. Refer to ArcMap: Available map and image cache properties for more information.
