Configure Indian regional language fonts for labeling and layout text in ArcGIS Pro

Summary

The purpose of this document is to provide step-wise guide on how to add and configure Indian regional language fonts such as Marathi, Hindi, Bangla, and other Indian scripts into the ArcGIS Pro.  These fonts will be available in font list and can be used in the labeling, layout titles, text elements, legends, and other map layout components.

Cause

Some users such as state government. organizations, and regional agencies, prefer regional language as an administrative language to design maps. 

Procedure

1. Download or collect the required Unicode font file:. Make sure the font is in .TTF or .OTF format and supports the script needed.
2. Close ArcGIS Pro.
3. Open the ArcGIS Pro fonts directory: Go to <Installation Directory>\ProgramFiles\ArcGIS\Pro\Resources\Fonts. ArcGIS Pro can read additional font files from this path.
4. Paste the font file into the Fonts folder: Copy the selected font file and place it inside the fonts directory. If prompted, approve administrator permission.
5. Restart ArcGIS Pro.
6. Check the font style list for layout text elements and labeling.
