Last Published: April 25, 2020

Procedure

Summary

Steps to configure a Summagrid V digitizer.

Procedure

The following is for point mode only. Stream mode is not supported for the this digitizer.

1. Do not load the Calcomp drivers. If you have loaded any their DOS drivers, you need to remove them from the AUTOEXEC.BAT and/or CONFIG.SYS files. Those drivers usually begin with "C:\CALDB\.......". If you loaded the Calcomp drivers in Windows, you need to uninstall them.

2. Configure the dip switches and banks:
a) Load the CD "Tablet Works"
b) Navigate to the directory Sgdosutl\utility\Sg5c) Run Sg5setup.exe
d) Make the necessary setting changes at the DOS window that appears
e) Check the COM port to which the digitizer is connected

BANK 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
A X X X
B X X
C X X

f) Set the following parameters on your digitizer:

Baud Rate [9600]
Parity [None]
Data Bits [8] Stop Bits [1]
[X] Click enabled
Mode [Point] [ ] Always
transmit
Resolution [1000 lpi]
[ ] CR/CR LP
Emulation [CALCOMP]
Format [CALCOMP 9100 1]

g) Select the SAVE SETTINGS button. The digitizer will beep twice to confirm the changes.
h) Select the READ SWITCHES button to confirm the settings

3. Make a new digform for PC ARC/INFO or DAK to communicate with the digitizer:
a) Open a DOS editor, such as Notepad or WordPad
b) Open the digform CAL9100 in the directory C:\ARCEXE\DIGFORM
c) Save the file as CAL9100E. Make sure the file type is set to 'Text Document-MSDOS Format' in WordPad or 'All Files' in Notepad. The files should not have a txt extension.

Make sure the digform looks like this:

'CAL9100E' CALCOMP SUMMAGRID V digitizer
1 Digitizer device #
'(A3,2F5.3)' Digitizer format
F No menu bar
F Single button mode off

4. Run the CON-DIG command or run ARCSHELLW File > Configure > Digitizer.

The following is for configuring the digitizer for use with a 16 button
puck:

1. Modify the Format file cal9100 as follows:

'SUMMAV' SUMMAGRID V Digitizer
