Summary
In ArcGIS Instant Apps, the Search tool is used to find addresses and features in the data sources displayed in the app. For better user experience, it is sometimes necessary to customize the placeholder text of the Search tool to a specific preset text before a search value is typed. The image below shows the default placeholder text, 'Find address or place', in the search bar.
This article describes how to change the placeholder text of the Search tool in ArcGIS Instant Apps.
Procedure
- In ArcGIS Online, on the My Content tab, navigate to and click the Instant app to open its item details page.
- On the item details page, click Configure.
- On the ArcGIS Instant Apps Configure Basic page, toggle off the Express
option. - On the Interactivity tab, click Search.
- Optionally, click Add under Search configuration, and select the layer to add a new data search source.
- Under Search configuration, click the ellipsis
icon next to the data source, and click Edit.
- In the Placeholder text parameter, type the desired text to display in the search bar. In this example, the placeholder text is set as Search Lot Number.
- Configure the other parameters as desired, and click OK.
- Repeat Steps 6 through 8 to define a placeholder text for the other data sources.
