This article may contain information that is not intended for external circulation. ** In certain situations, such as deploying multiple lab computers that use the same extensions, it may be necessary to create a pre-built registry key that can be loaded on each computer. The following procedure details which registry key affects extensions and how to identify which extensions are being activated. The procedure described in this article is for advanced users only. The recommended and supported way of enabling extensions is through the ArcMap and ArcCatalog user interface.

The following procedure involves making edits to the registry. This can damage or even permanently disable your computer. Please take extreme caution when following these steps.
Note:
If the user does not have a license for the extension they are attempting to activate, the box remains unchecked in the application's extension dialog box.
