Adjust the transparency of a basemap in ArcGIS Online (after June 2025 release)

Summary

The June 2025 update to ArcGIS Online includes many new features and enhancements to Map Viewer. This article describes how to directly adjust the transparency of a basemap from the basemap gallery in an ArcGIS Online web map.

Procedure

1. Choose your basemap for your web map in ArcGIS Online
2. Click the arrow at the top right of the Current basemap.

3. Under the Base section, click the 3 dots on the right of the basemap name and select Show properties.

4. In the Properties pane under Appearance, adjust the Transparency slider.
