HOW TO

Hide the automatic publish date on an ArcGIS StoryMaps cover

Summary

When authoring a story in ArcGIS StoryMaps, the cover can display a date (publish date) below the author name.
In some workflows (for example, evergreen content, internal drafts, or content where a date creates confusion), authors may want to remove the date from the cover because it is not relevant to the audience or it makes the story look outdated.

ArcGIS StoryMaps covers include basic information such as title, subtitle, author, and a publish date. The publish date is shown on the cover by default, and its display is controlled in the Story settings dialog box: Date on cover.

Procedure

To hide the date on the story cover from Story settings, follow these steps:

  1. Open the story in ArcGIS StoryMaps with the draft open (story builder).
  2. In the top-right of the builder header, click the More actions menu (three dots).
  3. Click Story settings, as shown in the next image.

  1. Open the Display section (or tab).
  2. Under Date on cover, select None (hide date)
  3. Click Save.

The date no longer appears on the story cover.

Note:
Hiding the date removes a reference about when the story was published or updated. If you want a more relevant date, set Date on cover to show the Date of last update instead of hiding it.
