Error Message

Adding new tics to coverage in ArcCatalog returns this error:

Cause

Tic needs an ID.

Solution or Workaround



  1. Start ArcCatalog and create a new coverage.

    A. Navigate to workspace
    B. Right-click on workspace
    C. Select New
    D. Select Cover
    E. Add applicable information
    F. Click Finish

  2. Right-click cover name and select Properties
  3. Select the Tics and Extent tab
  4. Click Add
  5. Move cursor to X column and select a cell.
    Note:
    This step is necessary to avoid the error

  6. Move cursor to ID column and select a cell. Type in the necessary value.
  7. Move cursor to X column and select cell. Type in the necessary value.
  8. Move cursor to Y column and select cell. Type in the necessary value.
  9. Click Update

    Repeat steps 4 through 9 for additional tics.
