Error Message

When trying to launch ArcIMS Administrator on Solaris I get the following error:

Font specified in font.properties not found [-monotype-arial-regular-r-normal--*
-%d-*-*-p-*-iso8859-1]
Font specified in font.properties not found [-monotype-courier new-bold-i---*-%d
-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1]
Font specified in font.properties not found [-monotype-times new roman-bold-r---
*-%d-*-*-p-*-iso8859-1].....

Cause

The Font Package ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1) Optional Fonts from Solaris has not been installed. The Font Package installs true type fonts that are necessary in order to run ArcIMS.

Solution or Workaround

  • Confirm whether the font package is installed. From a terminal prompt type:

    Code:
    pkginfo | grep SUNWi1of

  • If you see the following:

    Code:
    system SUNWi1of ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1) Optional Fonts

You have the required fonts on your system.

  • If not, add them from your Solaris Software installation CD. As an example, from a terminal prompt type:

    Code:
    su pkgadd -d /cdrom/cdrom0/s0/Solaris_2.7/Product SUNWi1of

Note: For Solaris 8, the font package is installed by default during Solaris 8 installation.
