FATAL ERROR (MATNOD) Unable to delete old NAT

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Error Message

Building nodes for a coverage that was imported from an ArcInfo Interchange file (.e00) at the Arc prompt produces the following error message.

FATAL ERROR (MATNOD)
Unable to delete old NAT
ISP channel# 1 was not properly closed (INFEND)
ISP channel# 2 was not properly closed (INFEND)
ISP channel# 4 was not properly closed (INFEND)
Bailing out of RENODE

Cause

The ArcInfo interchange file contains invalid coordinates for one of the nodes in the file. For example, the Y-coordinate contains invalid alpha characters:

1.20539621500000E+07 3.59q9564800?000E+06ì

Solution or Workaround

  1. Open the interchange file in a text editor, and change the invalid coordinate values to zero.
  2. Import the coverage.
  3. Build node topology.
  4. Correct the node value in ArcEdit
