Why do maps with the same style sheets look different?

Answer

Due to the different technologies that create maps, the appearance of style sheets can vary between map formats.

Variations can occur between the following map formats:

· Vector formats (SVG and SWF)
These formats are generated by ArcWeb Explorer and REST.

· Raster formats (JPG, GIF, and PNG)
These formats are generated by ArcWeb map services.

· Custom data sources
