Understanding AI assistants in preview
Preview is a new Limited-Use Program designed to offer users the opportunity to use AI assistants prior to general availability, without the typical constraints associated with beta software. The purpose of the preview is to enable users to utilize the feature in your ArcGIS environment for a limited duration, until the transition to general availability.
Characteristics of AI assistants in preview
- Access: When a user with administrative privileges opts-in to utilizing AI assistants (see Configure AI assistants), they are making AI assistants available to their organizational members. There is no mechanism to only turn off preview capabilities. The setting for blocking beta release capabilities does not block preview capabilities. Turning off access to AI assistants will block AI assistants in preview.
- Release: Preview represents a stage between beta and general availability. It is important to note that products in general availability may incorporate AI assistants that are in preview.
- Licensing: Esri may provide limited access to versions of an AI assistant in preview prior to making such assistants generally available. Previews are a Limited-Use Program as licensed under the Esri Master Agreement for Products and Services unless superseded by your signed license agreement.
- Documentation: AI assistants in preview are documented within the applicable product documentation.
- Time-limited: AI assistants in preview are available for a limited time, designed to encourage user adoption and facilitate valuable feedback before their transition to general availability.
- Limited-use: During the preview phase, Esri reserves the right to suspend the use of AI assistants at any time without prior notice. In the event of such a suspension, customers will not lose the content generated through the AI assistants. There is no guarantee that assistants in preview will transition to general availability.
- Pricing: There are no additional license fees at this time while the AI assistants are in preview.
- Technical support: U.S. customers who are current on Maintenance are entitled to Esri Technical Support for AI assistants in preview for all qualified products. Customers outside the U.S. should contact their local distributor for information about technical support policies.
- Security and privacy: AI assistants in preview come with limited security and privacy validation. AI transparency cards will include information with security and privacy details for each AI assistant in preview. Security and privacy validation will be complete at the time the AI assistant is released into general availability.
