Frequently asked question

Is it possible to overwrite an existing image service published from ArcGIS Drone2Map to ArcGIS Server without an ArcGIS Image Server extension?

Last Published: February 11, 2021

Answer

Yes. It is possible to overwrite an existing image service published from ArcGIS Drone2Map to ArcGIS Server without an ArcGIS Server Image extension.

Publishing and overwriting Drone2Map products as a raster dataset does not require the Server Image extension. The main products from Drone2Map, for example orthomosaics, digital elevation models (DEMs), and digital surface models (DSMs) are raster datasets. Refer to ArcGIS Drone2Map: Product management for more information. However, publishing Drone2Map products as a mosaic dataset requires the Server Image extension. Refer to ArcGIS Server: Publishing image services for more information.

Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Overwrite an image service and ArcMap: Overwriting a service in ArcMap for steps to overwrite an image service with a new raster dataset in ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap, respectively.
