Frequently asked question

Is it possible to access PDF hyperlinks offline in the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app?

Last Published: October 23, 2023

Answer

No, it is not possible to access PDF hyperlinks offline in the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app. Hyperlinks require an active internet connection to view online files or websites. However, PDF files can be accessed by configuring the map for offline use in the Field Maps Designer web app. Adding the attachment to the feature layer in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer before downloading the map area in the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app enables offline access to the attached file.

  1. Log in to ArcGIS Online with an organizational account.
  2. Click the Apps button The Apps button and click Field Maps Designer.
  3. On the Maps page, click the map card and configure the map to work offline.
  4. Add related files to the feature layer as attachments in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Add related photos and files for instructions.
  5. In the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app, define and download a map area to use offline. Refer to ArcGIS Field Maps: Define and download a map area for instructions.
  6. Open the map area, and select any feature to display the attachment.
