Frequently asked question

Does clean uninstall or reinstall functionality, similar to the /cleanup switch or groundzero.exe, exist for ArcGIS 9.x?

Last Published: April 25, 2020
No, the cleanup functionality does not exist for any 9.x version of ArcGIS. This is due to the fact that certain components do not need to be removed from the registry and from the primary drive because they are necessary for all 9.x installations.

Note:
An alternative to the cleanup is the 'Repair' option, available in any version of ArcGIS 9.x.

To run a repair, insert the ArcGIS installation disk.

At 9.2, click Exit and navigate to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Select ArcGIS Desktop and click the Change button. When prompted, select the Repair option.

At 9.1 or 9.0, select Install ArcGIS and when prompted, select the Repair option.
