Can the area of graphics layers be calculated in ArcGIS Pro?

No, it is not possible to directly calculate the areas in an ArcGIS Pro graphic layer. To work around this, use polygon map notes or create a new polygon feature layer that replicates the graphics layer. Once the map notes or features are created and saved, accurate graphic area calculations can be performed. Follow the steps below to calculate the area of the graphics layer using an alternative method.

1. Open the ArcGIS Pro project.
2. Create temporary polygon features resembling the graphics feature layer using polygon map notes.
   1. On the Insert tab, in the Layer Templates group, select Polygon Map Notes.
   2. Create polygon features using the polygon map notes template by manually tracing over each graphics layer feature that represents an area to be included in the calculation. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Create features for instructions.

Alternatively, a polygon feature class can be added to the map for greater editing flexibility and data management. 3. Calculate the geometry for the output created in Step 2.
   1. In the Contents pane, right-click the newly created feature layer and select Attribute Table.
   2. In the Attribute Table pane, select the editable field or create a new field by referring to ArcGIS Pro: Create a field and apply a domain and default value for instructions. In this example, the 'Name' field is selected.
   3. Right-click the field and select Calculate Geometry to open the tool.
   4. On the Geometry Attributes, for Property, select Area (geodesic) in the drop-down list.
   5. For Area Unit, select the desired area unit in the drop-down list. In this example, US Survey Acres is selected.
   6. Click OK.
