Can point markers be removed from a geopoint question in ArcGIS Survey123?

No, it is not possible to remove a point marker from a geopoint question in ArcGIS Survey123. By default, in a survey form, the geopoint question displays a blue point marker symbol on the map. In some instances, the point marker overlaps with other map elements. The map below shows the point marker overlapping with an administrative boundary line.

As a workaround, use an image file to replace the default point marker and set the image scale to zero in ArcGIS Survey123 Connect.

Use an image to symbolize a geopoint

  1. Log in to ArcGIS Survey123 Connect. Browse to and double-click the survey to open it.
  2. Add an image file to the media folder. Refer to Steps 1 through 3 in ArcGIS Survey123: Add media to a survey for instructions.
The media folder with the image file added
  1. Click XLSForm Icon for XLSForm to open the XLSForm spreadsheet.
  2. In the XLSForm spreadsheet, for the geopoint question type, in the body::esri:style column, enter the following expression:
symbol=<filename>?scale=0

The following is an example of the expression.

symbol=icon.png?scale=0
The image shows the specified expression in the XLSForm
  1. Click Save to save the XLSForm.

The map below shows the symbology for the geopoint question is hidden.
