FAQ: Can I Install Different Versions of Different ArcGIS Products on the Same Machine?

Answer

No. There are multiple ArcGIS products; ArcInfo, ArcEditor, and ArcView, with multiple versions for each; 8.0.2, 8.1, 8.1.2, 8.2, 8.3, 9.0 etc. When installing more than one ArcGIS product on a machine, the same version number of every product must be installed.

This also applies to ArcInfo Workstation and ArcGIS Desktop; for example, the computer cannot be installed with ArcInfo Workstation 8.x and ArcGIS Desktop 9.0. The versions must be the same.
