Frequently asked question

Can custom fields be added to Location Analysis Properties in the Load Locations dialog box with Network Analyst?

Last Published: October 1, 2025
No, custom fields cannot be added to Location Analysis Properties in the Load Locations dialog box with Network Analyst. The Load Locations tool allows users to load network locations such as stops, barriers, and routes. The Location Analysis Properties section of the dialog box allows users to specify the attributes of the feature class to be loaded and analyzed by Network Analyst. Although new fields cannot be added to this section, relevant attributes linked to the network locations can be mapped to the existing fields of the feature class.

This same behavior applies when using the Add Locations geoprocessing tool to load network locations. It is not possible to add new fields to the Field Mapping Parameters section. However, existing fields in the feature class to be loaded can be mapped to the relevant attributes of the network locations.
