Failed to connect to the specified server. Underlying DBMS error

Error Message

The Enable Enterprise Geodatabase geoprocessing tool fails with the following error when run on an Informix database:

"Failed to connect to the specified server. Underlying DBMS error[Unknown error No extended error.]"


This error is returned if the Informix database does not use transaction logging.

Solution or Workaround

Change the Informix database logging status. This can be done through dbaccess or using the ontape command. See the IBM Informix documentation for specific instructions.

The following example sets buffered logging for a database named idsgdb:

ontape -s -B idsgdb
