Description
After successfully installing Esri Maps for Office 3.0, launch Microsoft Excel. The ESRI MAPS tab or ribbon does not automatically display.
Cause
There are several known causes for this issue.
- The Esri Maps configuration file stored in the local profile is corrupted.
- There is a conflict with other add-ins, such as PDF Creator.
- The registry key for the Esri Maps plug-in is set to load manually.
- The Esri Maps add-in for Microsoft Excel is disabled.
Solution or Workaround
Use the following solutions are suggested to resolve this issue. If the first step does not fix the problem, move to the next solution.
- Delete the content in the local profile.
a. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Esri Map
b. Delete the content.
c. Restart Microsoft Excel. - Turn off any conflicting add-ins.
a. Launch Microsoft Excel.
b. Go to Files > Options, and select the Add-Ins tab.
c. Navigate to the Manage drop-down menu, select COM Add-ins, and click Go.
d. In the COM Add-Ins window, uncheck all add-ins except Esri Maps for Office, and click OK.
e. Restart Microsoft Excel. - Enable the Esri Maps for Office Add-In.
a. In Excel, go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
b. Select Disabled Items from the Manage drop-down, and click Go.
c. In the Disabled Items window, select the Esri Maps for Office add-in, and click Enable. Close the window.
d. Restart Microsoft Excel. - Edit the registry key.

Esri cannot guarantee results from incorrect modifications while following these instructions; therefore, use caution and proceed at your own risk.
a. Go to Start > Run.
b. Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
c. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\Esri Maps for Office
d. Double-click the LoadBehavior key, and set the value data to 3.
e. Restart Microsoft Excel.
Note:
If Excel hive does not exist in the path, import it from another system that has Esri Maps for Office installed.
