Error Message

In some instances, when attempting to log in to ArcGIS Survey123 Connect using an account with the appropriate license and user type requirement, the following error message is returned:

Your account is not licensed for Survey123. Please ask your organization administrator to assign you a user type that includes Field/Essential Apps, an add-on Field/Essential Apps license, or an add-on Survey123 license.

The error message, "SSL handshake failed" is also returned in the ArcGIS Survey123 Connect logs.


The organization’s network firewall prevents traffic to ArcGIS Online and associated URLs.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve the error, configure the firewall of the network or machine with ArcGIS Survey123 Connect to allow list ArcGIS Online and associated URLs. Refer to Domain Requirements for ArcGIS Online for more information on all required domains to access full ArcGIS Online capabilities.

Consult an IT personnel before configuring the organization’s network firewall.
