Error Message

In ArcGIS Pro, maps can be shared as web maps or web layers to ArcGIS Online. In some instances, attempting to share a map as a web map or web layer fails and returns the following error message:

Your account does not have publishing privileges.
The error message Your account does not have publishing privileges. is displayed in a red textblock when publishing from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online.

Cause

The default Viewer, Data Editor, and User roles do not have sufficient privileges to publish features from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online.

Solution or Workaround

Use one of the options below to resolve the issue.

Change the member’s role to the Publisher role or the Administrator role

Change the member’s role to the default Publisher role or the Administrator role to have the privilege to publish features to ArcGIS Online. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Change member roles for steps to do so.

Update the member’s custom role to have the privileges to publish features

Update the member’s custom role to enable the privileges to publish features under the General privileges setting. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Configure member roles for more information.

Enable privilges to publish features in a custom role by enabling the publishing options under Content in the General privileges settings when creating a new role.
