Unable to create row id generator for table SDE.SDE.GDB_FEATUREDATASET (4), error = -37

Error Message

When running an sdesetup -o upgrade for ArcSDE for SQL Server, the following error message displays:"Unable to create row id generator for table SDE.SDE.GDB_FEATUREDATASET"

Cause

Customized storage parameters in user-customized dbtune keywords may cause failure when creating the row ID generator.

Solution or Workaround

1. Back up the current sde.sde_dbtune table by exporting the dbtune keywords to a dbtune file with sdedbtune -o export command.
2. Truncate all records from the sde.sde_dbtune table in the SQL Server database.
3. Run sdesetup -o upgrade again.
4. Import customized dbtune table from the backup dbtune file created in step 1 with sdedbtune -o import command, if necessary.
